Top 10 Goals

Team Collingswood’s Top 10 Goals for the Next 4 Years

Governing is more than just catchphrases—it’s about the details, experience, and ability to adapt to challenges while meeting the ever-evolving needs of our community. Team Collingswood has a proven track record of getting things done, and we’re ready to keep Collingswood thriving.

Here’s a quick look at our Top 10 Goals for the next four years:

1) ACCESSIBILITY & WALKABILITY

Continue to advance the Connect 2020 Bike and Pedestrian Plan, expanding bike infrastructure, improving walkability, and enhancing safety through grant funding and resident input. The Safe Routes to Schools plan, in cooperation with schools and NJDOT, will ensure safer access for students and families, along with many planned and in-progress improvements at key intersections and corridors throughout town.

2) PLAN FOR PARTNERSHIPS WITH THE SCHOOLS

Implement the comprehensive plan we developed to address community needs while aligning with the shared goals of the Borough and Schools. This plan prioritizes cost-saving measures, explores shared services opportunities, and provides immediate funding needed, along with ongoing senior citizen tax relief. It also takes a long-term approach to both school and community improvements, including building and capital upgrades, equity initiatives, enhancements to school fields and community parks, and continued support for teachers and staff.

3) SUSTAINABILITY & GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE

Grow EV infrastructure, implement a cost-saving community solar program, and continue Green Team events, sustainable public gardens, tree plantings, waste reduction programs, stormwater policies, fresh food access for all, Green Business Alliance programs, and community cleanups.

4) AFFORDABILITY & GROWTH

Partner with state, local, and nonprofit organizations to expand access to essential resources, including tax relief for seniors. Continue the Habitat for Humanity partnership for low or no-cost home improvements. Attract mixed-use projects to increase housing options and affordability. Continue resident input and visioning sessions for future opportunities along Atlantic Avenue and other areas, ensuring thoughtful, sustainable growth that reflects our community’s needs and values identified in the surveys we shared last year.

5) SUPPORTIVE & HEALTHY COMMUNITY

Expand mental health and community health resources, with a focus on at-risk and marginalized populations. We will continue to strengthen the Collingswood Board of Health to enhance public outreach, address resident concerns, and connect people with health resources, trauma recovery services, and wellness programming, including Wellness Week.

6) INFRASTRUCTURE & CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS

Prioritize upgrading water utilities for reliable public service and enhanced treatment systems to ensure clean, safe drinking water for all. Continue improving infrastructure while managing debt responsibly, securing funding for road paving, facility upgrades, and park enhancements. Leverage grants, shared services, and partnerships with Rutgers, Rowan, the Merchantville Pennsauken Water Commission, and Camden County for cost-effective improvements.

7) IMPROVING OUR PUBLIC SPACES

Expand recreation opportunities, murals and public art, and community gardens. The Recreation Master Plan will guide improvements to parks and fields, while placemaking initiatives will activate spaces and support ongoing projects like the new downtown Pocket Park and West Collingswood Revitalization Committee initiatives.

8) SUPPORT OUR LOCAL ECONOMY

Strengthen Collingswood’s economy by expanding the business attraction and retention programs we created to foster a diverse, sustainable mix of businesses that serve residents and draw visitors. We will continue to collaborate with our businesses to expand marketing and events to attract visitors and boost foot traffic—including our soon-to-be-launched weekday promotion—ensuring Collingswood remains a thriving destination for commerce and community. We are also continuously reviewing policies to ensure we build on an environment where local entrepreneurs can thrive.

9) FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY & SMART INVESTMENTS

We are committed to smart fiscal strategies that fund critical municipal services, infrastructure, and personnel while keeping taxes low. By leveraging grants, shared services, and efficiencies, we minimize costs and maximize resources. Our approach balances debt reduction with essential investments that strengthen our community.

10) DELIVER FIRST-RATE MUNICIPAL SERVICES

We will continue to enhance municipal services through new technology such as our new app, improved customer service, and expanded resident feedback opportunities. Our commitment to efficiency, accessibility, and responsiveness will continue to ensure a high quality of life for all.
